Impressive. The 9477b is a 1594 in drag. Altec figgered the musical market didn't like green so has a new face.
Your neighbors called. They like your music.

One of my co-workers pointed out this particular auction. He knew I enjoyed Altec equipment. Unfortunately, the household WAF is very low unless I consent to selling off either a pair of Model 19s, a pair of A7-500s, or a pair of Urei monitors.

I'm going to watch but it's probably all for nought!

You;d be better off selling the Waf.

Altec19 you have some nice speakers there, I would love to hear your Ureis and A7's...I have been looking for a clean pair of Ureis for awhile, one of these days they will show up.

Keep looking for the Ureis, they are nice. I have a pair of 811A monitors which are loaded with Altec 604-8K drivers. They don't have much bottom end by themselves (they really need to be properly soffit mounted to "woof") but I use them as the front channels in a 7.1 home theater. They work well when paired with a decent subwoofer. I think the 811As are probably the best factory 604 implementation anyone ever devised except for maybe the larger Urei/Altec models.

I haven't seen a pair of 811As for sale in a while. The larger 813/815 models seem to show up on occasion but they are really a beast to handle. The later JBL loaded models might be an option (no offense intended). Be careful of the blue foam on the horn if shipping is involved. Those horns are really impossible to find.

I use the A7 cabinets as a stand for the Ureis. I put the 511 horns on top. It looks pretty serious. Unfortunately, I just don't have enough depth for the A7s to project properly and sound good (in comparison to the Ureis) so they are rarely listened to.
    I used to be known as "AltecFan" but now I'm "Altec19" . . .
